I always knew something might be wrong with Texas since George W. Bush came from the state. I don't think everyone in Texas has a problem, just the politicians that represent the state. To further my point, the Texas State Board of Education is currently reviewing the standards on which textbooks are written and taught within the public school system. They want to change the history books to focus more on Conservative viewpoints and history.
My initial response is:

This is an actual quote from the article:
Another board conservative, Ken Mercer, R-San Antonio, thinks students should study both sides to “see what the differences are and be able to define those differences.”He would add James Dobson's Focus on the Family, conservative talk show host Sean Hannity and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee to the list of conservatives. Others have proposed adding talk show host Rush Limbaugh and the National Rifle Association.“I think, at the end of the day, we will want the young students to be able to identify what's conservative, what's their advocacy and who are the conservative groups, individuals and leaders. And what is liberal in contrast,” Mercer said.
Are they serious? They literally want to teach the students about Rush Limbaugh so they can identify him as someone who demonstrates Conservative values. I guess they should throw in Mark Sanford to give an example of strong marital values. Hell, let's add Richard Simmons to the list so that our young men learn how to be a man's man. Let's not forget about the young girls who are very impressionable. We need to find a woman that can really show them what strong leadership and dedication is all about. I have it.........Sarah Palin! Even I don't think the Texas Board of Education is stupid enough to use her as an example.
